Gompers Distillery is proud to carry forward the legacy of our Opa (our grandfather), Herman Gompers. Born into a family of hoteliers and bakers in Enschede, Holland, Herman’s journey was shaped by resilience and determination. During the dark times of the Nazi invasion, he found refuge in Niekerk, living in a small 8×8 room and surviving against all odds. Captured twice, he managed to escape, and after the war, he met his wife Deborah and fought in the War of Independence in Israel. Moving to Los Angeles, he built a legendary bakery that became a favorite among Hollywood stars like Cary Grant, John Wayne and Frank Sinatra.
With Gompers Distillery, we pay tribute to his indomitable spirit and zest for life. Every sip of our award-winning Gompers Spirits is a toast to the extraordinary journey of a man who never settled for ordinary.

Join us at Gompers Distillery and Speakeasy, we are open from Wednesday through Saturday from 3 PM to 8 PM. We are available for private events, private tastings and tours, by appointment, seven days a week.
